GERMAN PURIFIES SWIMMING POOL WITH SILVER
Dr. Klaus Hager of Germany knocks out fungi and bacteria in swimming pool water, he reports, using alternating silver and copper screens in the water circulation system. He has obtained German Patent No. 2,307,345 for the device which introduces into the water concentrations of silver and copper ions which act as both fungicide and bactericide.
The copper mesh, made of either wire or foil, is plated with silver in such fashion that the moving water is exposed alternately to the two materials. The disinfecting system is inserted downstream from the main particulate filter in the circulation system. With time, the metal ion concentration in the pool reaches a constant level due to the continuous recycling of water over the silver and copper.
Result: no more eye irritation, no smell or harsh chemical disinfectant, and no toxicity, Dr. Hager declares.
